mi!SmallCellVeriPHY™

Overview

When developing LTE eNodeB products, basic PHY software and related hardware functionality needs to be extensively tested before the conformance tests according to 3GPP TS 36.141 can be executed.

Normally, the PHY layer has been developed and tested in a limited environment to reduce risk and allow module and PHY level testing for verification. This means that customers need to re-verify when integrating their own RF front end, support integration of the LTE eNodeB Protocol Stack as well as possibly making modifications to the PHY itself.

To support this type of testing, mimoOn has developed the mi!SmallCellVeriPHY™, consisting primarily of the MAC Emulator and a set of test files, sometimes called test vectors.

Product Description

mi!SmallCellVeriPHY™ consists primarily of a MAC Emulator and a set of test files, sometimes called test vectors.
This test environment has to provide some basic Layer 2 (L2) operations to control the PHY layer.

For these purposes, it replaces L2 in the sense that it:

  • Obeys to the same resource restrictions as real L2 would
  • Communicates with the PHY using the same communication channels as the real L2 would (PhyIpc usage + same messages)

Basically, mi!SmallCellVeriPHY™ replays the same radio-frame over and over again but does NOT possess scheduling intelligence of a real L2 layer.

mi!SmallCellVeriPHY™ also includes over 200 test cases have been developed and cover the following areas:

  • UL Functionality Tests
  • DL RF Conformance Tests
    • TS 36.141/TS 36.104 Ch. 6
  • UL RF Conformance Tests
    • TS 36.141/TS 36.104 Ch. 7
  • PHY Layer Conformance Tests

mi!SmallCellVeriPHY™ supports mi!SmallCellPHY™ on the Texas Instruments’ Small Cell DSP platforms.

Each PHY release for the TI Small Cell Wireless DSP platforms may require an updated release of mi!SmallCellVeriPHY™.
Companies subscribing to this product will automatically receive an updated, verified mi!SmallCellVeriPHY™ corresponding to each PHY release.
