The KfW Mittelstandsbank (KfW SME bank) is an important financing partner for future-oriented firms. It gathers governmental sponsorships for founders as well as small and middle enterprises. Capital investment of German enterprises in Germany and abroad is boosted. The financing products of KfW Mittelstandsbank are subdivided into the three columns loan capital, mezzanine capital and company capital. Supplemental to investment financing, it offers founders of new businesses and young enterprises financing and crisis advice. With the support of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Technology, the ERP start-up fund of KfW Mittelstandsbank provides small technology ventures with equity capital, which can be used for financing the development of innovative products, processes or services. A prerequisite for an investment by KfW is that an additional investor (lead investor) partakes with at least the same amount as the KfW Mittelstandsbank and takes care of KfW's share as well.
